The first person to say “Tan tan” gets a smack
December 31, 2003, 1:10 amMy largely rambling geek review of 2003 is up at Entertainment Geekly.
Also, I found out that they are no longer producing the big sized Tintin’s that we remember from our childhoods, so I guess I’d better hustle my ass to pick up the ones I’m missing.
Flying back to Vancouver from Calgary. I understand that it’s snowing there, which always makes for a fun flight. Snow and airport on shoreline equals a bumpy ride. Wheee!

Well, did you try staples?
December 25, 2003, 5:56 pmA happy birthday to the baby Jesus (you don’t look a day over 1800) and a happy holidays to the rest of you useless lot. Would it kill you to martyr yourself once and awhile?
There was a nice article in the Calgary Herald about volunteering, which was nice. I had to share this paragraph though;
“A recent University of Michigan study showed men who volunteer are likely to live two-and-a-half times as long as men who do not.”
So, volunteer today and live to 200.
I also went with the family and saw The Return of the King, which was amazing. I will defer to PvP as a review. Also, I feel a bit for anyone coming into the middle of the series (yes, there were a few there. You’re on your own pals n gals) and for anyone who didn’t read The Hobbit - I’d recommend it, as the eagles will make much more sense that way.
It’s been a brilliant x-mas day and I’m returning to it now - Scrooged is playing and I want to miss as little of Karen Allen as I possibly can. All the best to you and yours and I’ll see you all in the new year.

Happy Holidays!
December 22, 2003, 6:21 pmI’m off to Calgary for a few days to enjoy the season somewhere there’s actually snow. My cell will still be on and I may actually post from there, but otherwise, all the best to you and yours and I hope you get lots of great stuff.
Oh, and also, the Vancouver Gaming Guild website is now up and running. A bit rough around the edges, but still the best way to hook up with like-minded gamers in the greater Vancouver area.

Camera Goodness (test run)
December 19, 2003, 5:24 amSo, I’ve been playing with my new camera. I love it. If you’re thinking about getting a digital camera, want some thing handy and relatively inexpensive (and you don’t care about telephoto - you know, walking up close to something, only a machine does it for you) then, I highly recommend this camera.
Here are some test pictures. I’ve scaled them down, except for the Kodo pic, which I include the full, untouched file, as taken from the camera. The camera does 15sec movie clips, no sound, but needs good light, so I haven’t experimented with it too much yet. Soon.

Note that the man peels his bananas backwards.

Shelley cuts my hair. Shelley got a new tattoo at Sacred Heart. Very nice.

My nemesis. Right back atcha, punk. (full res original)
